How many of you have been slightly overwhelmed this week? How many we’re in a hurry? Rushed? Late and stressed? In fact, how many of you are so often in a rush that slow people really annoy you? How many of you would say that? Yeah, just the fact that it took some of you a long time to raise your hand, that annoys me. You’re way too slow. Any of you, you ever go to the grocery store and you get your groceries, and then you walk up to the line and you analyze which line’s going to be the fastest? And then you get into line and you race? Anybody ever do that? Any of you with kids ever design mock races for your kids, and you say, “Let’s see how fast you can get ready for bed. Ready? Go, go, go, go, go.” Why? Because we’re in such a rush.

(This sermon was given while we were worshipping in a local park in the community)
What does great community look like? What are the distinguishing factors that would make this community, or the community that you come from, great? What distinguishes great community from a mediocre community? Do great communities happen accidentally or does there have to be intention?
Are we called to live as isolated islands – separate from one another, shallow, and selfish? Or are we called to be a community that works together while showing compassion, kindness, patience, and more than anything else, love toward one another? Who are we as a community? Where are we going? Is our community going to get better or worse? These are a number of the questions that we are asking today.

You Don’t Have What It Takes Week #2
Big Idea: When we love what others think, more than we love God, no blesing flows. When we seek to please others more than we seek to please God, it is sin. Being a people pleaser is a form of idolitry that robs us of the blessing that God created us for.

Big Idea: Everywhere Jesus went, he made a difference. The early church made a radical difference wherever they went. What about us? We were created in the image of a creative, difference making God. Jesus calls us to follow him in becoming a difference maker. We do small things. God does big things.
