Sunday Gatherings
Every Sunday we are privileged to get together to worship God. Our Sunday gatherings feature a relaxed atmosphere, a relevant message, and real community.
Generally speaking, here’s what you can expect on a Sunday morning. When you enter there will be coffee and nice people to hang out with. At 11:00am we gather together and sing several culturally relevant worship songs accompanied by a band complete with drums, guitars and keyboard. Younger kids are then dismissed for a more age appropriate experience. The adults and older kids stick around for a half hour of biblical teaching with the use of props, movie clips and everyday experiences. We end our worship time by praising God, and then we hang out around the coffee pot while sharing life together.
Four Questions
We’d love to have you join us for our next Sunday morning Gathering. Before you do that, there are at least 4 questions that you may want answered:
Where do we gather?
It’s amazing to see the transformation of the Lawton Middle School into a great gathering place. But that’s what happens on Sunday mornings. There’s a map to the right
. Here are some basic directions:
- From Interstate 94 (I-94), take exit 60
- Go south on M40 for about 3 miles miles. This takes you into Lawton.
- Turn left on 2nd Street (you can only turn left).
Big T’s is on your right. - Take 2nd street all the way to the end (about 1 mile).
There should be a cemetary on your left; the middle school is directly in front of you.
Or click this link to allow you to enter your starting destination using Google Maps
When does this happen?
We know that you like your sleep, and we want you to come rested, so we start our gathering at 11:00 (coffee and hanging out starts around 10:30). We usually end between 12:00 and 12:15, but on rare occasions, we might go a little longer.
What do I do with my kids?
0-3 years old – We really care about your kids, so we provide nursery services, staffed by loving and caring state certified adults.
Kids Community is available for children ages 4 through 11.
The kids will start out with you and get to sing and clap. Then we will dismiss them, so that they may enjoy a more age appropriate experience.
6th grade – High school are encouraged to stay in the worship gathering as teaching is at a level they can glean a significant amount of what is being taught. This age group is also encouraged to participate in Life Group activities and Youth Group. Social activities for middle school and High schoolers are a regular occurance.
What should I wear?
It is very important that you wear clothes. In fact, it is a requirement. What kind of clothes? It doesn’t matter. I teach in blue jeans to give you permission to dress however you’d like. Nobody here is going to look at you funny or critique your clothes. Most people are dressing casually, but wear whatever makes you, you.
You might also be asking, “Is there more to this church than what I see on Sunday Morning? Yes!! The “community” part of New Community is our Life Groups.
Life Groups are small gatherings that are designed to promote a deeper level of social interaction, learning about yourself, and learning about God. If you want to see first-hand what a Life Group is like, just ask. If you have any other questions, please feel free to Contact us!
